My Trash Bin: Memories from the "K" Island

Ah...seriously, I do love Indonesia! I have been in several islands of Indonesia Archipelago: Sumatra, Batam, Tanjung Batu, Tanjung Pinang, Java, Borneo, and now I will write about the furthest island I have ever been: Sulawesi. Sulawesi is one of the biggest islands in Indonesia which shape is like "K" letter. I visited one of the province of Sulawesi that was North Sulawesi which well-known by its Manado City and Bunaken National Water Park. In fact, there are many great places that should be visited when you are in North Sulawesi, and here are some of them:

Linow Lake:

It is located at Tomohon, and you need about 1,5 hour travel from Manado City. You have to pay Rp. 25.000,- /person but you can exchange the ticket with a cup of coffee/tea plus sweet cookies that you can enjoy while sitting around the lake.

Bukit Doa

Still in Tomohon area, you can visit Bukit Doa ( Prayer Hill ), you can enter a cave that show the story of Jesus from the birth till the death, not only that, there are many beautiful spot to take picture. You also can view the sightseeing of Tomohon village and Lokon Mountain that is placed across the hill.

Patung Yesus Memberkati (Jesus Blessing Statue):

It is a vast statue of Jesus and noted in MURI (Museum Rekor Indonesia. Based on an article that I have ever read, it was built by Ciputra as his gratitude of God blessing. I also just knew that his father was die in Manado.

Kaki Dian:
In my opinion, it is like 'Hollywood' sign in LA... but the word is "MINAHASA UTARA" and it is on Klabat Mountain, the highest mountanin in North Sulawesi. Unfortunately, I didn't take a proper picure of it :'( Though, I hope this picture can help you imagine it. So, why is the name Kaki Dian? Because there are a enermous lampstand monument behind the big letter.

Bukit Kasih:

It's also known as Menara 5 Agama ( Tower of 5 Religions ). There is tower that the five sides of it present a sentence from each religion scripture.

If you go to Bukit Kasih, you should challenge yourself to reach the 5 prayer places from 5 religions there. To reach it, you should climb about 1000 stairs :) Don't worry, after you down the stairs, you can enjoy the massage and soak your feet in hot area form the sulfuric area there.

There are many other places around Manado like Tondano Lake (Actually, it is an usual big lake, but you can enjoy your lunch or dinner at the edge of the lake while viewing the rice field, the lake, and the mountain at the same time), Pagoda Ekayana ( you can read about it here ), and Waruga ( I wrote about it here ) and the water tourism like Bunaken, but I will not share about it because almost all people have known about it. Though, there are many interesting water tourism beside Bunaken Island, but I and friends didn't have enough time and money to explore them, maybe someday ;).
