The Disabled are Capable!


Hats off to these the young disabled people led a project to make a comic book about UK Disability History. The idea came from the the young disabled group in and well-supported by Manchester City Council. They were facilitated to acquire skills   to make this project comes true. Even the City Council seriously involved the local artist named Jim Medway to help the project. It's a very creative way and empowering at the same time. The comics then are available freely for public in Manchester Central Library. 

Maybe my my knowledge about human rights is not that broad and deep, but in my opinion, it is one of the best practice program supported by the government to respect and campaign for disability equality. 

How can this happen? I think first it's caused of respect. Respect that every people has capability to do something and never look down on someone who has limitation. That's why I personally, prefer using "diffable" term (different ability) rather than "disable". Second, the good system and team work among the govt, activists, and society. Hopefully in the future, we can see more and more good achievement like this.

  1. Pida, komiknya bisa dibeli di mana? Mau dong... Aku lagi bikin proyek sahabat difabel. Masih ngumpulin ide dan metode buat sosialisasinya dulu. Komik sounds great.

    1. Hi Kak, itu gratis Kak..boleh diambil di Central Lib Manchester. Sebenernya ya halamannya cuma yang ada di foto di atas itu. Kalau kakak mau, aku bisa ambilin...butuh berapa? Nanti aku bawa pas main ke Milton Keynes
